Getting To Know UK Punk Band “Everyone Lies”

LLTM: Is there a special meaning or back-story on how the band got its name?

EL: I think it was reflective of how we were feeling at the time with everything that was going on in the world.   We don’t bring a lot of politics into our music but with Brexit and COVID and social media fake news it seems like we’re being fed a constant stream of BS from the government and their right wing media cronies.  We pretty much stopped trying to keep up with current affairs and got pretty cynical about the whole situation.

LLTM: If you could use 3 words to describe your sound, what would it be?

EL: Energetic, fast, fun

LLTM: What has been the fans/critics reaction to your single “Tntina”  and do you agree?

EL: People have responded positively and the most common thing we hear back is how catchy it is. We definitely agree as its a proper ear worm!

LLTM: If you were able to go on a world wide tour, who would be part of your lineup and what countries or places would be part of the tour?

EL: There are so many amazing bands that we’d love to tour with. NOFX springs to mind straight away because they’re an incredible band and look like they’d be super fun to hang out with. No doubt they’d have a lot of stories to tell and we’d learn so much from them.

If it was a world tour might as well go all in and do the whole world!  Would love to play across Europe and the USA but hitting Asia and South America would be sick too!

LLTM: Do you seem to connect more to the lyrics or more to the instrumental side of music?

EL: I think it depends on the song and what we were feeling when we wrote it.  I am really proud of the lyrics in TNTina because of the word play, but when it comes to a straight up banger like Biscuit there’s nothing more fun than just smashing our instruments as hard and fast as we can.

LLTM: What has been the most memorable moment so far in your career?

EL: 100% opening for UK Subs in Southampton.  They’re absolutely legends and it’s the biggest venue and audience we’ve played to so far.  We were all a bit nervous before going on but the reception we got after finishing our first song was incredible and settled us down, the show was nuts.  We’ve been really  lucky to play with some amazing bands in our short career so gotta mention opening for Millie Manders and the Shut Up as well as being invited by Robb from Whitmore to open their reunion tour – we all grew up with Smoke the Roach so was insane to be a part of that.

LLTM: Who has been your biggest musical inspiration so far and can we hear it in your music?

EL: We all have a wide range of musical taste but the bands you’ll hear cutting through in our sound would be Blink 182, Teenage Bottlerocket, Ramones, MXPX.  Think 1994 pop punk glory days and you’re pretty much on the money.

LLTM: What album/artist could you have on repeat and never get tired of?

EL: There are so many!  I have had Dude Ranch in the car pretty much solidly for the last 2 weeks and never gets tired of anything by The Dopamines.

LLTM: Has the writing/recording process begun, if so when can the fans expect it to be released?

EL: At the moment we’re kind of chaotic!  Booking as many gigs as we can and also trying to add some new songs to the set as and when we write them.  We’re not really into planning too far ahead but for now we’re going to get ourselves out there playing to as many people as possible then maybe start thinking about putting an album together at the end of the year with a view to finishing writing it and recording it some time next year.

LLTM: What does the touring schedule look like for the remainder of 2022?

EL: As above, chaotic!  We’ve got an all day festival coming up at the Phoenix in High Wycombe (28th May), sadly its another small venue that’s closing its doors for good so we’re sending it out with a bang.  After that we’ve got a few dates in June and some more later in the year.  For now we’re looking to play as much as we can and have 1 or 2 gigs a week booked until October rather than a solid run of days on the road.  Next year we’re planning on 2 or 3 tours and working on the album in between – its just a case of balancing it all with work and family.  We should probably have a planning meeting at some point! All our confirmed dates and tickets links are here>https://crazypugmusic.wixsite.com/everyoneliesband please give us a follow on social media to sign up the the mailing list and be kept up to date on new shows as they happen.
