Getting To Know Giuliana Lucia Amaral and Crispy Borell of Rock Band “Band Inc”

LLTM: Is there a backstory or special meaning on how the Band got its name?

Giuliana Lucia Amaral: “When we formed the band we got an offer to play a show and we had to pick a name really quick for the promo video that the venue was going to do. We really couldn’t come up with anything so we came up with BAND, Inc. and everyone agreed and it stayed that name. The name was created out of necessity lol.”

LLTM: Who do your fans seem to compare you to the most and do you agree?

Giuliana: “A lot of people compare us to Halestorm, Dorothy, The Pretty Reckless, which is super nice to hear because I myself am a big fan of those bands.”

Crispy Borell: “I’ve heard all of those, but one I’ve also heard quite a bit is ‘Heart crossed with AC/DC’. Even to be mentioned in the same breath as those legends is an absolute honor.”

LLTM: Who are some of your biggest inspirations musically, and what about personally?

Giuliana: “Some of my biggest inspirations in music are Led Zeppelin, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Mötorhead, Halestorm, Dorothy, Guns N Roses, Mötley Crüe, Lady Gaga and many others. Personally a lot of my own inspirations would have to be the same I mentioned above. I would add Ann Wilson, Joan Jett, Debbie Harry and most recently the bands Ghost and Twin Temple. A mixture of modern rock and some pop music as well!“

Crispy: “Zakk Wylde, Slash and Phil X are probably my biggest influences as far as guitar playing. As far as bands are concerned, I love all things 80’s glam and punk. Skid Row, Mötley Crüe, Guns N Roses, Hanoi Rocks, New York Dolls, and the list goes on.”

LLTM: When it comes to music, do you seem to connect more to the lyrics or more to the instrumental side of music?

Giuliana: “I connect a lot more to the lyrics. I really enjoy writing lyrics for songs. It’s almost like being a storyteller. Every song has a story behind it or an event. When I write lyrics I puts into our music a form of my expression. And at that moment one of my sole purposes is to get what’s on my mind or heart onto paper with hopes that our listeners will relate to it and enjoy. To me writing music is equivalent to therapy. I really enjoy it.”

Crispy: “I actually connect more with the music. Or I guess more specifically the melody. There could be the most profound, heartfelt lyrics ever, but if the melody isn’t strong, then it won’t pull me in.”

LLTM: What do you feel is more important, a perfect live performance or a perfectly edited recorded album and why?

Giuliana: “I think a perfect live performance is more important. Live performances are excellent opportunities for us musicians to self express ourselves to our audience. It’s also a great opportunity for us to connect with our existing fans and to develop new fans on our shows.”

Crispy: “Live performance all the way. Anyone can sound amazing on an album, but live performances are where you can truly express yourself.”

LLTM: What is something you wish you could do over or change, and why?

Giuliana: “I’m really happy with everything I have done so far and with what my band has done and accomplished. I don’t think I would change anything about it. It seems to be working. Currently we have a great lineup of musicians and a great audience that supports us a lot.”

LLTM: If you could put any album on repeat for 24 hours, which of them would you choose?

Giuliana: “This is a hard question to answer. Not the fact of playing a record for 24 hours because that’s actually normal for me lol. The hard part is to pick one album. There are so many great albums that I love. Way too many I would say but if I had to choose one it would have to be Zeppelin II.”

Crispy: “‘Appetite For Destruction’ by Guns N Roses or ‘The Strange Case Of…’ by Halestorm.”

LLTM: Do you have a favorite quote or lyric, if so what is it?

Giuliana: “Yes I do. It would be: ’Born to raise hell, born to raise hell, we know how to do it and we do it real well!’ – Motörhead.”

Crispy: “Probably: ‘I may not always believe in myself, but I believe in what I’m doing’ – Jimmy Page”

LLTM: How’s the writing or recording process begin for a new EP or full length album, if so when can the fans expect it to be released?

Giuliana: “The writing process is super fun. We usually write our songs in my home. I do most of the lyrics and a little of the instrumental part. By we I mean me and my guitar player Crispy. We just love coming up with new sounds and new ideas that fit our styles. Hopefully later on this year we will accomplish our goal of releasing our first album. We have plenty of new songs and we have been working on them. So that’s something for our fans to look forward to.”

LLTM: What does the touring or show schedule look like for the remainder of 2023?

Giuliana: “We have a lot of upcoming shows for 2023. We have been invited to go to Nashville to play at some of their venues. We are just trying to fit that trip in our current schedule but we will make it happen. But so far we have a lot of great shows in both the East Coast and the West Coast!”

Crispy: “We’re just gonna play anywhere and everywhere that we can. I’m super excited for the rest of this year!”
