Getting To Know Ryszard Gabriel, Guitarist for Austin TX, Based Metal Band “Unveil The Strength”

LLTM: Is there a special meaning or back story on how the band got its name?

Ryszard: The name is just a recurring theme of my life. Everyone gets dealt a different hand of cards in this world and you have to make the best with what you have. There are no victims here.
I don’t surround myself with that because it’s just too easy to have a pity party. For me
personally having this unwavering resilience no matter how bad it gets has been the
number one factor for me. It’s a mindset. It’s making yourself bulletproof without shutting off empathy and your feelings. -UTS

LLTM: Who have been some of your biggest musical influences and can we hear any similarities?

Ryszard: Personally, I have been bought up on Scandinavian melodic metal. Bands such as In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquility etc, so there are definitely harmonial elements that have been incorporated within the writing of songs. The similarities would most certainly be apparent for sure!

LLTM: What has been the hardest part about being in the music industry today? What about the easiest?

Ryszard: I think with the power of the internet, there seems to be a plethora of music being released on a continuous basis. So at times it does feel that you’re rubbing shoulders with many people. On the other hand, it is incredibly easy for any individual to access our music, seeing as we are featured on all the main music streaming platforms. So reaching and connecting with our audience is incredibly easy.

LLTM: When you listen to music, do you connect more with the lyrics or the instrumental side?

Ryszard: Being a guitarist, I am quite biased and tend to listen to what the guitar is doing. However, having said that, I am a huge fan of lyrics and lyric writing. I always take an interest in finding out the meaning and capturing the essence of the song. Also, I most certainly don’t attempt to sing in the shower… who is the source that provided you with this intel? Haha.

LLTM: Who is currently on your playlist, and what song could you never get tired of?

Ryszard: At this present moment, I’ve had “Shaped by Fire” album by As I Lay Dying on repeat. I can go and listen through that whole album whilst I workout. A great album, a masterpiece if you as me! As for what song I could not get tired of.. hmmm.. at the moment I’m really loving “Only After We’ve Fallen”. Not getting tired of that one whatsoever!

LLTM: Who has been that person in your life you have always looked up to and why?

Ryszard: There have been numerous mentors that I have had. Pretty much every guitar teacher I have had as well as PT’s. They all contributed in my growth as a guitar player and as an individual. They have helped with my issues/ obstacles that I have struggled with in life. I am incredibly grateful to each and every one of them. Especially for having the patience to put up with me! Haha.

LLTM: What do you hope the fans get out of your music?

Ryszard: I would love for the fans to connect with the music. Relating their experiences/ insecurities/ struggles/ success with our songs. Finding answers and solace within our music as well as enjoying these crushing anthems whilst rocking out. This is what music is about, connecting. It is food for the soul.

LLTM: If you had to give up something for 30 days to perform with any artist/ band for 1 hour, what would you give up and who would you be performing with?

Ryszard: Well… my achilles heel is chocolate… I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could! However… given the opportunity to play with a band for an hour.. I am willing to make the sacrifice for 30 days and will gladly play with As I Lay Dying! Then after the show I’ll just consume the 30 days of chocolate that I gave up. So a win for everyone right?

LLTM: Where do you hope to see yourself in 5 years and what will it take to get there?

Ryszard: One of my dreams/ goals is to get to a stage within my career where I would be fortunate and blessed enough to have my very own signature guitar line by .strandberg* guitars. Even if it is just the 1 model. What I have to do in order for that to come into fruition is to work hard, play harder, and to keep the vision in front of my eyes continuously. With the momentum that the band has at the moment, it could most certainly be achieved within a 5 years period.

LLTM: What is the most influential quote or saying for you and why?

Ryszard: “Nothing in this world worth having comes easy.” Actually this quote comes from the legend Dr. Kelso in the series Scrubs. One of my favorite series and it is full of great quotes that you can be applicable to ones life. I have always been a hustler. Being in the music industry makes you realize that you have to network, make those connections and keep pushing on to the next step. Slowly climbing that ladder. Always pressing and seeing what options are available for you. This is my approach and it seems to work for me. Go big or go home right?

LLTM: Has the writing or recording process begun for a new EP/ Album, if so when can the fans expect it to be released?

Ryszard: There have been ideas bounced around as well as songs that aren’t too far off completion. The progress in writing new music is certainly there and will most definitely be resumed. It may still be a little while to wait until it is ready to be released. But I do remain positive that it will be shown to you all sooner rather than later.

LLTM: What does the touring schedule look like for 2022?

Ryszard: Right now we are currently working on a couple of dates in Texas for the month of Dec. 2022, it will depend on who’s open for business so to speak. Any state that’s open we will probably be there. -UTS
